MyCarAlert Privacy Policy
MyCarAlert is a vehicle-alert and vehicle-monitoring service. This policy explains personal-data processing in the MyCarAlert app on the App Store, MyCarAlert Pro on Google Play and related services on mycaralert.eu.
Controller and contact
The controller is Computer Force SRL, Gh. Lazăr Nr. 3, et. 1, Timișoara, Romania. For personal-data questions, use our contact form.
Data processed to provide the service
- Account and contact data: user identifier, name, login data, email address and, where configured, telephone number.
- Vehicle and tracking-device data: vehicle/device name or identifier, status, configured contact data and relevant settings.
- Vehicle location data: positions, addresses, times, routes, stops, events, reports and geofences associated with vehicles in the account.
- Geofences and alerts: name, description and area of a user-created geofence, alert settings and received notifications.
- Notification technical data: device notification token, operating system, app version, language and time zone.
We process these data for authentication, account administration, vehicle-monitoring display, geofence and alert configuration, notification delivery, support and service security. The legal basis depends on the operation and may include performance of a contract, legal obligations, legitimate interests or consent where required.
Phone location and maps
The app may request your phone location to select a service region, show your position on a map and calculate the distance to your vehicle. MyCarAlert does not use phone location for background tracking. Maps are provided through Google Maps; use of that service may involve processing by Google under its policies.
If phone location is unavailable, the app may use the IP address to estimate the service region through an IP-geolocation service. This is only an approximate location.
Providers
We use technical providers for app features: Google Maps for maps and location, Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications, and an IP-geolocation service as a fallback for region estimation (IPinfo Privacy Policy).
Providers may process installation or notification identifiers, IP addresses, device, system and app information, map interactions and diagnostic data to provide and improve their services, including on infrastructure outside the European Economic Area. Details are described in the providers’ policies linked above. We do not sell personal data. The app does not display ads and does not use the advertising identifier AD_ID for marketing.
Storage on your device
The app may store locally the information needed to operate, including account data, credentials in device-secure storage, preferences, a vehicle-summary cache and local notification history. Some local data can remain until app data are cleared or the app is uninstalled. Signing out is not presented as a guarantee that all local data are removed.
Retention and rights
We retain data for as long as needed to provide the service, handle requests, maintain security or meet legal obligations. For deletion requests, we retain only what must be kept under a legal obligation or to defend legal rights.
Subject to GDPR conditions, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and, where applicable, withdrawal of consent. You may lodge a complaint with the Romanian data-protection authority, ANSPDCP.
Account or data deletion
Use the public request page: Delete MyCarAlert account. Submitting the request immediately suspends/disables the account’s access to the monitoring service. Permanent deletion of the account and data is then handled manually by support after verification of the account holder. Do not send passwords, vehicle locations or other unnecessary data. A deletion request does not automatically cancel subscriptions, invoices or other contractual obligations.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including HTTPS connections for app communications. No electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure.
